Nordex Ireland: 27.5 MW for the Emerald Isle
Brookfield Renewable orders eleven N90/2500 turbines
Hamburg, 30 August 2016 The Nordex Group is supplying eleven N90/2500 turbines for Brookfield Renewable in Ireland. The “Slievecallan East” project is located on the west coast of the Republic and is due to start operation with a nominal output of 27.5 MW at the end of next year.
Nordex will be supplying the strong-wind turbines with 80-metre tubular steel towers and is in charge of the foundation work. The order also includes a 15-year Premium full-service contract. The site of the project is in County Clare and benefits from the strong Atlantic wind on the west coast of Ireland. The wind farm is named after the nearby Mount Slievecallan.
Brookfield Renewable is one of the largest publicly-traded pure-play renewable power platforms. Their portfolio consists of hydroelectric and wind facilities across North America, Latin America and Europe and totals more than 10,000 MW of capacity. In Ireland, Brookfield already own and operate more than 200 MW of Nordex turbines.
George Martin, General Manager of the Brookfield Renewable Irish Operation comments, “Brookfield Renewable is delighted to team with Nordex on Slievecallan. This is an important project for Brookfield and sees a continuation of the company’s investment in Ireland.”
