SunPower Installing 8.79 Mw solar system at Toyotas Texas Headquater

SunPower announced that they have started the installing of 8.79Mw solar system at Toyota Motor North America’s new headquarter in Plano, Texas.

About 50 certified workers are engaged in installing the high-efficiency solar panels on steel carport structures across the top of four parking garages. More than 20,000 solar panels will cover the area, offering shade and protection to vehicles underneath. Upon Completion the system is expected to generate approximately 33 percent of the headquarters’ energy needs.

According to the PPA with SunPower Toyota will buy generated output power and own the renewable energy credits associated with the system.

As a result of 14 years of partnership, SunPower solar power systems are currently operating at a number of Toyota facilities in the U.S. such as 2.3-megawatt system at Ontario, California and 1.5-megawatt system at West Caldwell, New Jersey.
