Soltec is supplying 38 MW of solar trackers to Assuruá PV plant

Soltec is supplying 1,330 units of complete tracker equipment to the Assuruá PV power plant in the Brazilian state of Bahia. Trackers are scheduled to be delivered in just two months, with some 60% of equipment supply being of Brazilian source.

The plant, located in the municipality of Itaguaçu, is the fifth solar plant in the country featuring SF Utility trackers; and is the second one in Bahia. With Assuruá, Soltec maintains its leadership in the tracker supply market in Brazil. This project is developed by Soltec’s esteemed customer Quebec Energy.

“The configuration options of our standard tracker satisfy the application needs of frameless thin-film solar modules. The resulting six-up landscape module mounting solution provides complete tracker module-fill and maximizes tracker yield potential,” reported José María Lozano, Engineering Global Director at Soltec.

The trackers supplied will mount 319,200 thin-film (CdTe) modules. Thin-film technology takes an important share of the large-scale PV tracking power plant segment, along with silicon (Si) technology and its bifacial version especially suited to tracking applications.

The plant is estimated to generate over 78 GWh per year, equivalent to the energy consumption needs of approximately 38,200 Brazilian households. It will avoid the emission into the atmosphere of over 45,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
