NuScale Submits small Nuclear Reactor Design Certification to U.S. NRC
Small modern Nuclear reactor commercial power plant design certification application was submitted to U.S National Regulatory Commision (NRC) by NuScale Power. The reactor technology could deliver a safe, flexible and carbon-free power solution with more energy diversity.
The NuScale’s small modular reactors include scalable plants. The facility output can be incrementally increased depending upon the demand. The technology’s operational flexibility can also be integrated with other carbon-free renewable energy sources like wind and solar to provide consistent power and to help enable stable grid performance.
David Seaton, Fluor’s chairman and CEO said that Fluor continues to be proud of its investment in NuScale and how the company had rapidly moved through the design certification application process, and they are eagerly awaiting NRC review and approval.
Since October 2011 Fluor has been supporting NuScale. Fluor has been providing the engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance of nuclear power plants from the past 60 years and has been providing a long-term clean energy solution in the U.S. and around the world.
