LM Wind: New blade factory announced to serve Offshore Wind Market
LM Wind Power announced that they will setup a new wind turbine blade factory dedicated to serve the offshore market at Cherbourg in France.
Ground Breaking will begin in March this year and it is expected that production will commence from next year June. They further announced that they expect to employ over 550 people, which in future may result to 2,000 jobs in local area.
The facility will be capable to produce the LM 88.4P the longest blade in the world and the capacity is expected to grow between 1.2 and 2.0 Gigawatts (GW).
Alexis Crama, Vice President Offshore, LM Wind Power said that this move recognizes the strategic growth of offshore wind energy in Europe and the emerging commercial opportunity for Cherbourg and the surrounding region.
