GE to supply steam turbine and HRSG to Sabiya Power Plant in Kuwait
GE announced that it will supply a steam turbine generator set and two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), along with associated engineering and other services to Kuwaiti Sabiya Power Plant.
The equipment will allow the conversion of the plant from simple-cycle to combined-cycle configuration and to generate more than 260MW of extra power without the use of additional fuel. The HRSG will be shipped from Korea and are expected to arrive in Kuwait by Q3 2018. They will be installed and operated on the backend of non-GE F-class gas turbines currently operational at the facility. The HRSG units are being manufactured at GE’s facilities acquired from Doosan.
President & CEO of GE’s Gas Power Systems – Sales, for the Middle East & North Africa, Ghassan Barghout said that GE is committed to driving power sector efficiency across Kuwait and helping the Ministry of Electricity meet the increasing demand for power for domestic, industrial and municipal use. By adding onto non-GE legacy systems at the facility, their steam tail technology will help enhance output and lower both the life cycle costs, as well as the emissions generated per megawatt of electricity produced at the Sabiya Power Plant.
