GE supplies inverters to Scatec Solar’s 162 MW Brazilian Project
General Electric to supply Norway’s Scatec Solar ASA with PV skids for a 162-MW solar project in Brazil.
The skids will consist or encompass GE’s 1,500- V 1.1-MWac LV5 solar inverters, o be produced at GE’s manufacturing base in Brazil as stated by the US company. The equipment will be installed at a 162-MW solar park in Quixere, Ceara state, the contract for which has been awarded during a national tender in 2015.
GE mentioned that the skids entail less cables, string boxes and related infrastructure during the inverter stations’ installation. Brazil, Latin America’s largest renewable energy market, aims to bring online up to 7 GW of solar parks by 2024. Its current installed solar power capacity amounts to just 300 MW.
Brazil’s Bank of Economic and Social Development accredited the 1,500-V inverters under Finame as they adhere to the local government’s requirement for 60% local content.
