Biomass Trade & BioEnergy Africa
September 28, 2017 - September 29, 2017
At CMT’s Biomass Trade & BioEnergy Africa on 28-29 September in Johannesburg, learn more about the project directly from Eskom Power and Blackwood Technology.
Plus, we have also confirmed speaker from – Africa Renewables (AfriRen)! In Nigeria it is involved in the collection and export of Palm Kernel Shells (PKS) while in Ghana, AfriRen has a 8-year replanting programme covering a total of 4,700 hectares of old rubber tree plantations, expected to produce 1 million tons of fresh biomass by 2018. It also has a long-term plan to set up a pelletisation unit of 50,000 metric tons per year capacity in Ghana.
LafargeHolcim Uganda is also speaking at the September meet. Since the mid-2000s, LafargeHolcim uses biomass to fuel its cement kiln and dryer in Hima – a significant portion of this biomass comes from coffee husks. Currently, over half of the thermal energy for the kiln comes from biomass rather than oil. By 2030, LafargeHolcim aims to use 80 million tonnes per year of waste derived resources to power its operations worldwide.
Many more interesting and new biomass projects in Africa’s vast untapped markets will be featured at the Biomass Trade & BioEnergy Africa summit.
