Equis enters Australian solar market
Equis Energy has ventured into the Australian PV market with two substantial scale projects totalling 200MW.
The plants will be in South Australia and Queensland individually.
The 100MW South Australia venture will be situated close Tailem Bend. Equis has marked a PPA with Snowy Hydro Limited, a main incorporated energy business, to buy 100% of the power created for no less than 22 years. It will be worked nearby Snowy Hydro’s current 28.8MW diesel-fired power station. The solar project is relied upon to be one of the most minimal cost sun oriented undertakings on the mainland; at around 40% not as much as present market costs. Development of the venture is relied upon to initiate early this year.
“As Asia’s largest renewable energy developer and investor, the Tailem Bend Solar Project represents an exciting expansion into Australia for Equis and an unique opportunity to leverage our development and construction expertise to deliver low cost, large-scale, reliable renewable energy for Australian consumers,” said David Russell, Equis Group CEO.
“By developing the Tailem Bend Solar Project and Snowy Hydro diesel projects together, the combined system will have the capability of providing stable power any time of the day across the entire year. In addition, the Tailem Bend Solar Project has been developed to facilitate large scale battery storage further enhancing the ‘base load’ like nature of the projects.”
The second vast scale project is situated in Collinsville, Queesland and will likewise be 100MW. It is to be developed ashore near the Collinsville North substation, with development to initiate this year moreover.
The two vast scale tasks will together produce enough clean energy to control 63,165 Australian homes and utilize more than 400 individuals amid development stage. Likewise, in total the plants will dislodge 397,400 tons of greenhouse gasses (GHG).
Equis has likewise secured rights over an additional 2,000 hectares of land for an extra 1GW of solar PV to be built in the close term.
