Derrick Morgan to join AFPM as Senior Vice President
The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) announced that Derrick Morgan will join the organization as senior vice president, federal and regulatory affairs. He will be responsible to oversee the government relations, regulatory affairs, and petrochemical departments.
Prior to AFPM he works at the office of Senator Ben Sasse. Previously he held several positions at the Heritage Foundation including VP for the Institute of Economic Freedom and Opportunity. During the Presidency of George W. Bush, he served on VP Dick Cheney’s senior staff in several capacities, including assistant to the vice president, special counsel, and staff secretary. He also served as a policy analyst and counsel to the U.S. Republican Policy Committee under Senator John Thune.
He earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Dallas and a law degree from Georgetown University. Morgan practiced law at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP after clerking at the U.S. Department of Justice and for Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater of the Northern District of Texas.
AFPM President and CEO, Chet Thompson said that he look forward to Derrick joining their team. Derrick is a proven leader with experience in all three branches of their government, and his extensive background will help them more effectively advance the priorities of their member.
